Our Licensed Family Day Care, located in Schenley Heights, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, provides low income and private pay individuals/families with quality care, strong foundation and social-emotional development for toddlers-2 years through age 12.

What makes our daycare unique?

Our subsidized childcare program aligns closely with our mission by addressing critical needs of low-income families, especially those dealing with trauma. By reducing financial barriers to child care, TLP Ministries can support parents in finding employment, furthering education, or participating in counseling services—all essential steps toward family stability and healing. This affordable, reliable care can also offer children a safe and nurturing environment where they can develop essential social and emotional skills, often with access to support tailored to their needs.

 

Moreover, this initiative can act as a catalyst for transformation by reducing family stress, improving family cohesion, and breaking cycles of trauma. When parents feel supported and are able to focus on their own healing and growth, children in turn benefit from a more stable and loving home.

 

Onsite Nurse

Having an on-site nurse at our child daycare adds a significant layer of support and safety, especially for families dealing with trauma and health challenges. The nurse can provide immediate medical attention if a child becomes ill or injured, reducing parents' worry and ensuring children receive prompt care. Additionally, the nurse can monitor children's overall health, provide preventive care, and support families with health-related guidance, which can be especially valuable for low-income families who may face barriers to healthcare access.

 

For children who may have specific medical or emotional needs due to past trauma, the nurse’s presence ensures they are in a safe environment where both physical and emotional well-being are prioritized. This contributes to a more holistic approach in line with TLP Ministries' mission, further empowering families to overcome challenges and build healthier, more resilient lives.
